Scaffolding Swing Gate

Engineered to international standards for safety, speed and durability on every job site.

Overview

The Scaffolding Swing Gate — also called a scaffold safety gate, self-closing gate or tube-and-fitting swing gate — is a hinged gate that closes a guardrail opening so crews can step through a scaffold bay or ladder-access point without leaving a dangerous gap in the edge protection. Mounted on the standard Ø48.3 mm (1-1/2 inch) scaffold tube, it swings open to let a person through and springs shut automatically, keeping the handrail line continuous at all times.

Scaffolding Swing Gate - Self-Closing Safety Gate for Scaffold Access Openings

Key Features

  • Self-closing spring hinge - gate shuts automatically after each pass
  • Keeps the handrail line continuous across access openings
  • Adjustable width (SWGADJ) fits common bay openings
  • Clamps to standard Ø48.3 mm scaffold tube - no cutting
  • Q235 steel, hot-dip galvanized, yellow powder-coat option
  • EN 12810 / EN 12811 / ANSI / AS-NZS 1576 / OSHA

On site, a swing gate is the simplest way to keep an access opening protected. Where a removable guardrail panel would be taken down and left off, the swing gate stays in the opening and closes itself after every pass, so the edge protection is never left open. It clamps to the standard Ø48.3 mm scaffold tube on both sides of the opening with tube clamps, and its spring-loaded hinge pulls the gate shut the moment it is released. The gate width is adjustable (model SWGADJ) to suit common bay openings, so one gate fits a range of guardrail gaps without cutting or custom fabrication. Built from Q235 steel and hot-dip galvanized for site, coastal and offshore service — with a high-visibility yellow powder-coat option for busy sites — the swing gate is engineered to EN 12810 / EN 12811, ANSI, AS/NZS 1576 and OSHA, supplied under ISO 9001 quality, FOB Shanghai from ACE SCAFFOLD.

A swing gate keeps the handrail line closed. Where a straight guardrail would block an access point, the gate opens for the person and shuts behind them — no panel to remove, no gap left open.

Self-Closing Spring Hinge

The gate is spring-loaded. It swings open to let a person through and closes automatically the moment it is released, so the guardrail opening is protected even when crews are in a hurry.

Adjustable Width (SWGADJ)

The SWGADJ swing gate adjusts to fit common guardrail openings, so one gate covers a range of bay widths without on-site cutting or custom parts. It clamps to the standard Ø48.3 mm scaffold tube on both sides of the opening.

Steel and Finish

Swing gates are made from Q235 steel and hot-dip galvanized for corrosion resistance on site, coastal and offshore projects. A high-visibility yellow powder-coat option is available for high-traffic sites, and the gate is built to EN 12810 / EN 12811, ANSI, AS/NZS 1576 and OSHA.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q
What is a scaffolding swing gate?
A scaffolding swing gate — also called a scaffold safety gate or self-closing gate — is a hinged gate fitted into a guardrail opening. It swings open to let a person through a scaffold bay or ladder-access point and closes automatically, so the edge protection stays continuous.
Q
How does a swing gate stay closed?
It uses a spring-loaded hinge. The gate swings open under hand pressure and springs shut the moment it is released, so the opening is never left open even in a rush.
Q
What tube does the swing gate fit?
The swing gate clamps to the standard Ø48.3 mm (1-1/2 inch) scaffold tube on both sides of the opening with tube clamps. No welding or cutting is needed.
Q
What does SWGADJ mean?
SWGADJ is the adjustable-width swing gate model. It telescopes to fit common guardrail openings, so one gate covers a range of bay widths without custom fabrication.
Q
What material and finish are scaffolding swing gates made of?
They are made from Q235 steel and hot-dip galvanized for corrosion resistance on site, coastal and offshore projects, with a high-visibility yellow powder-coat option for busy sites. They are built to EN 12810 / EN 12811, ANSI, AS/NZS 1576 and OSHA.
