A prop tripod is an erection aid for slab and beam formwork. Three flexible legs carry an open socket at the centre; the shoring prop is set into that socket and secured with a clamping hook struck with a hammer, so the post stands on its own while bearers, joists, plywood or a modular slab system are fitted and braced above. What a Prop Tripod Does

A prop tripod is an erection aid for slab and beam formwork. It holds a shoring prop upright on its own while the bearers, joists and plywood above are fitted, so one crew can set out the formwork without a second person steadying each post.

How the Tripod Holds a Prop

Three legs carry an open socket at the centre of the tripod. The prop is set into that socket and secured with a clamping hook closed by a light hammer blow, which stops the post from slipping while the deck above is built.

Flexible Legs and Folding Design

The supporting legs are flexibly mounted, so the tripod finds a stable footprint even in the corners of a structure. Once the pour is done it folds flat, taking very little room on the truck or in the store.

Where a Prop Tripod Is Used

Use the tripod with any steel prop or post shore in concrete slab and beam formwork, and wherever free-standing props have to be steadied during erection. It is released and reused as soon as the posts are tied off and braced.
