The Expanded Metal Grating - also called scaffold expanded metal grating or steel mesh grating - is a one-piece steel sheet that has been slit and stretched to form a regular grid of diamond-shaped openings. It is used as a lightweight, high-grip platform surface in scaffolding, walkways and mezzanines, letting debris, water and light pass through while giving workers a firm, slip-resistant foothold.

Diamond Mesh Construction

Slitting and stretching a flat sheet produces a three-dimensional mesh. The raised strands act as stiffeners, while the diamond openings let water, light and small debris pass through — useful for outdoor platforms and multi-level walkways.
